Vestry Actions, January 201701.12.17 | Vestry Actions | by Pam GoddardA summary of actions taken by the Vestry at the January meeting.St. Paul's Vestry met at 4PM on Thursday, January 12, 2017. OUTREACH COMMITTEE UPDATE: Vicky Goss Plans include a four-pronged approach with a local, national, international and crisis focus. There are many groups on the island in need of help; members of the team hope for a 3-year commitment to each entity. These groups include the Food Pantry and A Safe Place. Bishop Gates and the Office of Episcopal Development will provide guidance for the national effort. Internationally, the group wants to contribute to the Diocese of Jerusalem (annually) and St. Paul's Church in the Diocese of Cuba. The Outreach Committee would like to have a quarterly collection for these specific entities. Additionally, they expect to have funds available from John Beach's discretionary fund. They also hope to get the youth involved in a hands-on manner. EMC: Pam Goddard Year-end numbers for pledges/gifts and total income are promising when compared to last year with 27 more cards received so far (a total of 148) and funds exceeding by $54,161 with a current total of $304,009. Follow up plans will be put in place soon. BUILDINGS & GROUNDS: Luke Thornewill Work on the tower is moving forward at a slow and deliberate pace. There will be analysis of each building on our campus to make sure that we are using our property in the best way possible. TREASURER'S REPORT: Frank Robinson A resolution to reappoint Dual Macintyre as the assistant treasurer for the coming year was voted on and unanimously approved. PROPOSED 2017 BUDGET: Dual Macintyre A resolution to approve the proposed 2017 budget was voted on and was approved with one objection based on the proposed deficit. ANNUAL MEETING: John Beach The meeting will follow the combined church service on January 22, culminating with a potluck brunch. RECTOR'S TIME: John Beach Mutual Ministry Review with Cynthia Hubbard to discuss the goings on of the parish and any improvements or changes that need to be made. Remaining rector's time agenda items will be discussed at the February meeting due to the lengthiness of the meeting. OTHER BUSINESS: The wardens, John Beach, and fellow vestry members would like to thank outgoing members Sheila Daume, Mary Lacoursiere, Bambi Mlezcko, and Steve Paradis for their years of service to St. Paul's.
