With Bulletin for December 5 Service

December 05, 2021

Dear St. Paul’s Church Family,
Happy Stroll Weekend! We are still celebrating the record turnout for last night’s Christmas Concert & Reception at St. Paul’s Church. Wow! Joe Hammer created another marvelous musical production, incorporating eight choristers with Graeme Lincoln Durovich on violin. Peter & Stacey recruited a new team to beautifully decorate the church, and the Frable family then joyously trimmed our Christmas tree. Olly helped coordinate an enthusiastic Hospitality Committee team of bakers and servers, and Adam Dread’s friend Curtis Chin graciously donated our libations. The response from our guests was effusive! Thank you to all involved and to our many patrons.
Next Sunday morning, December 12th, at 9:30 we will host A Service of Advent Lessons & Carols with Holy Eucharist. Please invite your friends and neighbors as we continue to celebrate this holy season together. See you at church!
Blessings,
Max
Dear Fellow Parishioners,
While we were meeting on Wednesday to discuss our 2022 stewardship campaign, one member of our committee excused herself — she was needed to help distribute free meals for needy island families under our St. Paul’s Suppers program. Her commitment reminded committee members just how important our campaign goal of $475,000 is for expanding our mission and ministry work. St. Paul’s Suppers is just one program, but it has no dedicated source of funding. Neither do our snacks for island school children, support for the Nantucket Food Pantry and more. Have you been enjoying and been moved by the wonderful concerts and music this season organized by our Music Director, Joe Hammer? Have you received pastoral care from our rector, Father Max? Assisted by our parish administrator, Christine Borneman? All of this is made possible by your financial support. With our campaign theme of "Love, Serve, Thrive,” we are now at $365,000 in pledges, up 23% from this same group of pledgers for 2021. That is 75% of our goal of $475,000 in pledges from 200 parishioners for 2022, thanks to your generous support. As of this week, the average pledge was about $3,000, up 23% from 2021. There are many ways to pledge at St. Paul’s for 2022: You can mail your pledge card back to us, drop it off at the church office, or drop it in the collection plate at any Sunday service. You can also pledge and make pledge payments securely on line at our website here: https://stpaulschurchnantucket.org/give/give-treasure-pledge-donate-or-gift/, where you can also download a pledge card and brochure. Also try our new app — go to your app store and download the free Ministry One app, which is purple with a white cross in it--just follow the instructions to get started.
You may also consider a Christmas gift to the church and make it online or with a plate donation.
Thank you!
Peter and Patsy

Savior of the nations, come! Virgin’s Son, make here your home. Marvel now, both heaven and earth, that the Lord chose such a birth. ♦ Wondrous birth! Oh, wondrous child of the Virgin undefiled! Mighty God and Mary’s son, eager now his race to run! ♦ Thus on earth the Word appears, gracing his created spheres; hence to death and hell descends, then the heavenly throne ascends. ♦ Come, O Father’s saving Son, who o’er sin the victory won. Boundless shall your kingdom be; grant that we its glories see.
