With Bulletin for September 19 Services

September 18, 2021

Dear St. Paul’s Church Family,
I am still a bit wobbly after last week’s three wedding weekend. Each ceremony was uniquely moving, and Olly and I danced so much at one reception that I wrenched my back. It was well worth it! I quickly recovered and spent two days in Rhode Island celebrating my Mom’s 93rd birthday and dining with siblings at an old Italian restaurant our family has frequented for generations. It was a week full of love.
Our community’s children and youth have returned to the classrooms. Thank you for your continued prayers of support, and for generously contributing school supplies, snacks, and Food Pantry groceries. It has been difficult to gather the children during this pandemic, and many are not yet able to be vaccinated, but our efforts express our caring and also help reveal God’s unconditional love for them.
Weather permitting we will continue our peaceful outdoor 8:00 o’clock Eucharist in the Memorial Garden for two more Sundays (and inside if inclement weather). On October 3 we return to one Sunday morning service at 9:30 with the Blessing of the Animals then. A very popular parish tradition, invite your neighbors with pets to join in the blessed chaos. See you at church!
Blessings,
Max

In Prayer

If the voice of a child could reach up to you, O my Father,
Listen to the prayer of Jesus on His knees before You,
If You have chosen me to teach your laws on the earth,
I will know how to serve You, holy King of Kings, O Light!
Place on my lips, O Lord, the salutary truth,
So that whoever doubts should serve You with humility!
Do not abandon me, but give me the grace necessary
To alleviate pains, to relieve the suffering, the misery!
Reveal Yourself to me, Lord, in Whom I have faith, and I hope,
To suffer for You and die on the cross at Calvary

Eternal Spirit of the living Christ, I know not how to ask or what to say; I only know my need, as deep as life, and only you can teach me how to pray. ● Come, pray in me the prayer I need this day; help me to see your purpose and your will where I have failed, what I have done amiss; held in forgiving love, let me be still. ● Come with the vision and the strength I need to serve my God, and all humanity; fulfillment of my life in love outpoured my life in you, O Christ, your love in me.
