With Bulletin For April 9, Easter Sunday

April 08, 2023

Dear St. Paul’s Church Family,

Alleluia, Christ is risen! Our Lenten fast is over, and it is time to rejoice. On behalf of our parish’s dedicated staff and leadership team, I wish you and your loved ones a blessed Easter season. In preparation for this evening’s Great Vigil of Easter and tomorrow morning’s service, I have been rereading the book True Resurrection by H.A. Williams. For many years the Dean of Trinity College, Cambridge, Williams writes that in Christ’s resurrection, “Death has been swallowed up by life.” As I will attempt to explore while preaching, Williams lists ways that he and we experience resurrection - new life - not just in death but importantly throughout our lives. Because Christ lives, we are more alive.

Olly and Meatball and the kitties and I head off to Block Island early Monday morning for a two week hiatus. Curtis and Deacon Susan will be handling pastoral visits, and The Rev. Canon Kelly O’Connell will be celebrating the Eucharist on the next two Sundays. Kelly is a gifted preacher and an essential member of Bishop Gates’ staff, it will be a joy to have her return. See you at church!

Love,

Max
