With Bulletin for October 3 Services

October 02, 2021

Dear St. Paul’s Church Family,
We return tomorrow to our offseason schedule of one Sunday morning service at 9:30, this week with the Blessing of the Animals. It is our congregation’s tradition to have our precious critters inside church with us at the main service on the Sunday closest to the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, which falls on October 4. Join the blessed chaos as we celebrate the unconditional love that our pets share with us throughout the year.
Although St. Francis is commemorated chiefly for his compassion for the poor, his rejection of wealth and power, and even for his stigmata, he is also attributed with writing the Canticle of the Sun which states that all of creation glorifies God. It is from this important insight that the modern tradition of the Blessing of the Animals arises. I always feel that for God, it is one of the most entertaining services of the year. I hope to see you there!
The peace and joy of Christ,
Max
